Cindy Fitzgibbon with WCVB Channel 5 Boston visited with Mass Oyster and Long Wharf Supply Co. founder and CEO Mike Lamagna at our Gloucester upweller.

The segment highlighted the connection between our shell recycling efforts, our upwellers, and restoration. After visiting the upweller, board president Theresa Baybutt took Cindy to see our local restoration site at Gloucester’s mill river. That’s where oysters grown at our north shore upwellers are brought in the fall.

The piece also shined a spotlight on an important partner and funder of Mass Oyster, Long Wharf Supply Co. Mike serves as an advisor to Mass Oyster, and he’s passionate about our restoring oysters to local waters, protecting our oceans and diverting oyster shells and other waste from the landfill. Sweaters in Long Wharf Supply Co.’s “Seawell Collection” actually contain recycled oyster shells and water bottles, and a portion of proceeds go to help Mass Oyster and other environmental causes.
